Simple STEM Activities In Subjects

Building a STEM activities Library to give kids the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of STEM subjects.Unique science activity spaces, where children can grasp knowledge more effectively through hands-on experiments. Science supplies are easy to find, most activities take an half hour or less, and the STEM learning is limitless.

Below, we’ve compiled a list of great activities that you can do with children at home or in the classroom to engage curiosity and interest in STEM subjects.

Let's explore the unique STEM Activities together

1. Five Best coolest low tech STEM activities for you

1.The foil penny boat

Students are given a sheet of foil and have to make a boat that will float on water and hold as many pennies as possible; follow-up discussion about what designs did best, if penny placement has any affect, etc.

2. A spaghetti/toothpick and marshmallow tower

Students are given either spaghetti or toothpicks and marshmallows and have to build a structure that reaches a certain height and can successfully hold a certain amount of weight

3. The strongest boat

We do one where they each get one sheet of card and they have to build the strongest boat they can. Then they have a deep Gratnell of water and some masses and see how much it takes to sink the boats. Hardly any materials and clean up is easy. They get quite competitive with it.

4. Zombie Apocalypse

Students have to make shoes (from the stuff you give them, great way to clear the cupboards) to walk over various surfaces (bubble wrap, bottle tops) without waking the zombies.

5. Recreate Famous Towers

Students used 10 note cards and tape to recreate famous towers and see who could build the tallest tower. The students went through the engineering design process to research the tower that they would recreate, create a sketch/plan of their design, and then attempt to follow their plan using the note cards and tape. Many students realized that they needed to modify their design to prevent the towers from falling over.

2. Fun and Unique STEM activities in Subjects

We attended a STEM fair where we saw the librarian let the students choose the type of engineer they wanted to be:  Chemical, Aerospace, biomedical, mechanical, electrical or computer etc. Then, they were given a poster that introduced the work in their chosen field and a performance task. Different disciplines of science can better help students. Next, we recommend some interesting STEM activities with different subject themes.

1. Light, Optics & Sounds - STEM Activities

Mix Color

Light Refraction

Color Changing Beads

Color Changing

Sound Vibration

Light Reflection

Mix Color Paddles

Red, green, and blue are primary colors; overlapping different colors can create new ones.

Prism

When a light source shines on a prism, light refracts through the prism, displaying rainbow-like colors.

Color Changing Beads

These beads aren’t white at all – They contain a UV active pigment – when you expose to sun, or other ultra violet light sources, they reveal their true color.

String Telephone

Connect two receivers with a string. Once the string is stretched tight, when one person speaks, the sound will vibrate the string, and then travel to the other receiver.

Periscope

Children observe distant objects through one end of a periscope. Light, after being reflected by the internal lenses, transmits the object’s image to the eye.

2.Aviation,motion,force - STEM Activities

Electrical Energy Conversion

Aerodynamic Force

Airflow and Fluid Mechanics

Aerodynamic Levitation

Balsa Wood Plane

Aerodynamics

Electric Paper Plane

Students can design planes by themselves. By adding special creases—such as a curved, beak-like nose similar to a Concorde-style aircraft, and flaps on the rear of the wings—the plane will fly with a straight, precise trajectory and won’t roll or spin when thrown. Paired with an electric paper plane conversion kit, its performance becomes even more impressive. Students can also compete to see whose plane flies farther.

Balloon Helicopter

Assembling a balloon helicopter is super easy. Just attach the wings to the central hub, then mount the hub on the balloon. The air pressure inside the balloon spins the propeller, making the helicopter take off. It’s a simple, fun outdoor STEM activity.

Assemble A Drone

Let students assemble drones with their own hands. They can learn about the drone’s structure and flight principles, and understand it more clearly. The assembly takes about 20 minutes, and afterwards, drone races can be held—it’s a great science-themed activity like the drone match etc.,

Assemble A Hovering Aircraft

Everyone can assemble a hovercraft by hand—connect circuits, adjust the flight frame, and keep it balanced during flight. The hovercraft has a setting: when it’s  falling, just put your hand underneath, and it will fly higher. It not only helps understand aerodynamics but also allows for competitions, lasting about half an hour in this activity.

DIY A Balsa Wood Plane

Students can assemble their own balsa wood planes. By adjusting variables like wing shape, center of gravity, and weight, they can personally verify scientific principles—like how lift works and why balance matters. It’s a classic experiment that lays the groundwork for learning about complex aircraft like planes and drones later on.

Various Science Supplies STEM Activities

Interdisciplinary STEM activities help students combine knowledge from different subjects, learn to think as a whole, and solve future problems better.

Science Activities publishes innovative manuscripts that will provide teachers and educators with the best classroom-tested projects, experiments, and curriculum ideas that promote science, inquiry through active learning experiences. Journal editors encourage submissions that integrate science throughout all disciplines that can include but not limited to the biological, physical, environmental, chemical, and earth sciences. They also support science activties that integrate across other disciplines.

Let's custom STEM Activities with your bands

The reason these STEM activities work so well in classrooms is simple: they fit real teaching needs. Whether it’s deep dives into single subjects or creative cross-discipline projects, they line up with how students learn, curriculum standards, and even what your classroom can handle.
But we know no single set of activities works for everyone. Some schools need kits that match specific grades. Others want teaching tools with their own brand. And many educators need custom material mixes when exploring interdisciplinary themes. That’s where we come in.
